James G. Kelly

Raised in Washington through high school, Jim returned with his family in 1990 while continuing to practice with Gordon, Muir and Foley in Hartford. In 1997, the late Hon. Walter M Pickett, encouraged him to hang out his shingle in Washington, and introduced him to the long-time well respected attorney P. Lincoln “Linc” Cornell. With their encouragement and mentorship, Jim opened his law office in Washington Depot in February 1998.

Jim feels privileged to be able to live and work in the community and volunteers when he can. He has served on the boards of The Gunn Library & Museum, The Institute for American Indian Studies, The Washington Club, The UConn Baseball Dugout Club, and The Dramalites. He coached his own children and dozens of others in numerous youth soccer, basketball and baseball leagues, and is a member of the Washington Lions Club. Otherwise, he and Joanne are catching up on their traveling, tennis, golf and gardening.

Jim is a 1985 graduate of the University of Connecticut (B.A. Economics) and a 1988 graduate of St. John’s School of Law (J.D.).

Lisa Cheney

Lisa Cheney is a Real Estate Paralegal with over 25 years of experience supporting attorneys and clients through all stages of residential and commercial real estate transactions. She assists with contract preparation, title review, due diligence, and closing coordination. Known for her attention to detail and strong organizational skills, Lisa ensures that each transaction proceeds smoothly and efficiently.

Outside of work, she enjoys camping with her husband, her volunteer work for the Washington Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary and Lone Oak Campsites, and spending time with her grown children and granddaughter.
